Mungyo pastels are water-soluble pastels with highly concentrated and saturated pigments. They write softer than dry colored pencils and denser than crayons. They are easily diluted with water, which resembles the effect of watercolors and can both give the drawing a dense and evenly saturated color, and, depending on the artist’s desire, create a shade or chiaroscuro, emphasizing a part or detail of the painting.
